'Let's Save Energy' Campaign in Serbia

In 2006, the Republic of Serbia Energy Efficiency Agency (SEEA) ran a Media Campaign on TV, print and Radio under the theme "Save Energy - Be Wise".

To help children recall and retain the important energy efficiency messages promoted by the awareness campaign, the SEEA carries out a number of activities. These include the distribution of an Interactive Multimedia CD Teaching Pack (as a part of the Schools and Hospitals package).

The SEEA also organised a range of local Energy Efficiency education events, including a competition under the slogan " Let's Save Energy".

This involved both a drawing competition and a literary competition on energy saving topics. The winners were selected by a Jury including 3 teachers and 3 representatives of the SEEA.

The winners were presented with promotional materials produced by the agency: notebooks, magnets, rulers, pencils etc. The winning English poem and Serbian poem are included below, along with photos from the drawing competition.

In 2007, in conjunction with its own local activities, the SEEA is promoting the

ManagEnergy Online Drawing and Photo Competition 2007. The agency has translated the competition rules into Serbian and 1500 schools in the country will be invited to participate.

Штедимо мало, да би нешто и остало

Електрицитет, електрицитет!!
Шта би без њега радио свет?!
Сви би били у мраку
као у дубоком џаку.
И како би гледали серију
и слушали музику на радију?
Данас има и воде и струје,
ал апел овај треба да се чује:
Штедите воду, штедите струју!
Штедњаци, бојлери да се искључују
кад није потребно да раде,
и фрижидери кад не треба да хладе!
Штедите воду, највише ону за пиће
без ње не може ни биљка, ни биће!
Кад переш зубе, немој да вода тече,
и не купај се у кади баш свако вече.
Сви морамо да штедимо и црно злато!
Иди пешице ил вози бицикл зато!
Уместо да бензин сипаш у резервоар
Пешачи, потрчи, нек се пуши тротоар!
Боље се спава и лакше дише
кад се бензин не троши, ваздух лепше мирише.
Угаљ се црни у земљи крије
уз њега је зими много топлије.
Ал имајте на уму да залихе нестају,
па зато нека домаћини куће изолирају,
да сачувају топлоту унутар врата
енергија је, верујте, вреднија од злата.
Зато, упућујемо поруку народу:
Штедите струју, угаљ, бензин и воду!
Не желите ваљда да ваши наследници
живе у сиромаштву и енергетској оскудици!

Don't waste Save for tomorrow!

When I turn on the light
and then walk round the flat,
grandpa says that it's not right
to waste electricity like that.

Turn off the light fast
in the room you do not stay,
because energy cannot last
if we waste it in every way.

Don't drive alone in the car!
To walk or ride a bike you should.
When it is not too far
it will do you a lot of good.

Don't have a bath every night!
Take a quick shower instead.
Water gives pleasure and delight
but its reserves are limited.

Save energy and wisely spend
water, elecrticity, petrol and coal!
Those who save, they understand
and provide safer future for all.
